The Value of Local Moving Companies
Tumblr media
When it's time to move, choosing a local moving company can make the whole experience easier. These companies know the area, understand local traffic patterns, and offer a level of flexibility that large national chains often can’t. With a local mover, you’re likely to get more responsive service and a personal touch that makes your move less stressful.
Why Go Local?
Local movers depend on their reputation in the community. That means they’re more likely to provide high-quality service and transparent communication. Whether you're moving across town or just a few streets over, hiring a trusted local company helps ensure everything goes smoothly—and you're also supporting small businesses in your area.
The Role of Packing and Removal Companies
One of the most time-consuming parts of moving is packing. That’s where packing and removal companies come in. They handle all the wrapping, boxing, and lifting, so you don’t have to. From fragile glassware to bulky furniture, these professionals know how to pack and transport everything safely and efficiently.
Save Time and Energy
With a packing and removal service, you save hours—if not days—of manual work. These companies offer full packing options or partial help, depending on your needs. They also bring the right supplies: strong boxes, protective wrapping, and removal vans equipped for the job. Instead of renting a van and asking friends for help, you can leave it all to the professionals.
Tools, Equipment, and Experience
A professional Local removal company arrives prepared with tools like dollies, ramps, and protective covers. They’ve seen every type of moving challenge—tight staircases, narrow hallways, or last-minute schedule changes—and know how to handle them with care and speed. This kind of experience helps prevent damage and keeps your move on track.
Tips for Choosing the Right Company
Before hiring a moving or packing company, it’s smart to compare quotes, read customer reviews, and check what’s included. Some companies offer extra services like storage, furniture assembly, or eco-friendly packing supplies. Getting clear details upfront helps you avoid hidden costs and choose the best fit for your move.
Make Moving Easier with the Right Help
Moving doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With a reliable local moving company and experienced packing and removal experts, your move becomes much more manageable. Whether you're relocating your home, office, or just a few items, the right team can save you time, energy, and a lot of stress.

Guide on Moving House With Pets
Tumblr media
Website: www.vansandhands.com
Moving homes with pets can be confusing and anxiety-inducing for pets. To ensure a smooth transition, it is essential to visit your current veterinarian, arrange a separate room or space for pets, and consider other options like hiring a pet sitter or booking a kennel or cattery. Ensure your pet is tethered securely in your vehicle and has all necessary vaccinations.
Read Top Tips for Moving Homes with Pets in the UK, to learn more.
Take a stroll around your new neighborhood in the days leading up to the move to help them adjust to new situations. Let home moving services in London know about any pets moving with you upfront, especially if you are transporting exotic species like tropical fish, reptiles, or amphibians.
On D-day, use pheromone diffusers to help pets relax and avoid anxiety. Regularly check in with your pet, lock any doors and windows behind you, and provide them with clean water and toys to keep them occupied. Plan meals carefully, avoiding feeding your pets two hours before the move to prevent travel sickness.
To move homes with pets in the UK, it’s essential to stay at home for the first few days, update their details, be patient, and ensure each room is secure. Keep cats indoors for a week, and alert former neighbors about the move if they see them. If your pet exhibits signs of sadness or depression, seek expert assistance. Be gentle with your pet and don’t panic!

Do you know that tiktok couples prank that someone offers their partner to do something hard, like helping a friend move houses and see how the partner reacts? Could you write that with Leah?
Lift it up the stairs - Leah Williamson
Tumblr media
Word count: 1.3k
Notes: hi! sorry it took me so long, here it is:
..
Leah had just been given a week's vacation from Arsenal. It was one of those rare dates on the football calendar when she didn’t have to worry about a thing.
Arsenal didn’t matter, the Lionesses didn’t matter, and football didn’t matter at all. And Leah was serious when she said she was taking a break from football. When she got home, the first thing she did was grab Y/n by the waist and throw both of them onto the sofa.
“No more football,” Leah mumbled, resting her head on Y/n’s thigh, allowing Y/n to run her hands through her hair. “No ball, no training, no boots, no nothing for a whole week.”
“You deserve it, baby,” Y/n said, giving Leah a gentle kiss on the lips. “Now your focus is on resting and on me.”
Leah smirked. “You?”
“Yep!” Y/n said before Leah changed their positions so she was on top of her. “I can certainly do that.”
Two days passed and, although Leah claimed she didn’t need football, she was rather grumpy without it. It was like she couldn’t get used to a routine without the sport.
So Y/n thought of a fun thing to do, something different.
And unfortunately for Leah, it didn’t involve any sexual acts.
Y/n pretended to use her phone, but in reality, she was filming Leah. The angle was very bad though; it almost cut Leah’s head off the screen, but Y/n didn't mind—she wasn’t going to post it anyway.
She set her alarm to play the same song as when her phone rang and then began her show.
Leah was sitting on the other side of the sofa, doing sudoku in her pyjamas. Her hair was in a ponytail—the same one she did every day for training—even though they hadn't even left the house today.
“Hey, babes, what’s up?” Y/n said, pretending to speak with someone on the other end.
As usual, Leah didn’t look up from her sudoku, her eyes narrowed as she concentrated on the numbers in front of her.
“Yeah, she’s on vacation right now, but we’re still in London. We chose not to travel this time.”
Y/n knew Leah well enough to notice how her attention slightly shifted toward the conversation. Leah knew Y/n was talking about something that involved her, but still, her eyes remained glued to the paper.
“Oh really?! Already?” Y/n faked surprise in her voice, and that’s when Leah looked up, a grumpy expression on her face.
“Can you speak quieter? I’m almost done–” Leah began saying, not loud enough for whoever was supposedly on the other end to hear her.
Y/n ignored her. “Of course, Leah can help you, she doesn’t have anything else to do anyway.”
And that’s when Leah’s head snapped up.
“What do you mean I have nothing to do? I have plenty–”
Y/n quickly put a finger on Leah’s mouth, shutting her up. She pressed the phone against her chest. “Baby! I’m talking to Laia, please be quiet.”
Leah crossed her arms, watching Y/n as she kept going with her prank.
“What was that, Laia? You need help taking a fridge up the stairs?” Y/n asked. “Yeah, Leah will be there to help you, no problem.”
“What?!” Leah argued, putting the sudoku completely aside and sitting next to Y/n. “What are you on about? Why are you offering me?”
“Because you’re strong, Leah,” Y/n said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Laia told me the fridge is not heavy at all.”
“But–”
“Sorry, Laia. Yeah, she’ll totally come over to give you a hand.”
In a quick motion, Leah took the phone from Y/n’s hands.
“Hey, Laia, sorry about that, Y/n is in a silly mood right now,” Leah began, talking into the phone and giving Y/n an ugly look. “I can’t help you, mate, but I’m sure there’s like… a service you can hire to do that kind of stuff.”
Leah waited for Laia’s voice, but it never came. She took the phone from her ear and looked at it. It wasn’t even on the calling screen.
“Did she hang up?” Leah asked, confused.
“Yep, I think she got mad that you didn’t want to help her,” Y/n said, prolonging the lie just a little more. “Now her food will all go to waste since she doesn’t have a freezer to put it in.”
“Oh, we can just invite her to dinner some night to make up for it.” Leah rolled her eyes and got back to her sudoku. “Don’t know what you were thinking, offering me—have you seen my arms? They’re small,” she huffed, writing a number down on the sudoku paper.
“But you’re her captain, you’re supposed to help your teammates out!”
“I’m on vacation, princess. Right now, I’m just Leah.” Leah said, putting her feet on Y/n’s lap. “I just wanna relax! I’ve told you that—no football also means no teammates!”
“But I’m your teammate,” Y/n pouted.
“Right now, you’re just my girlfriend,” Leah said smugly. “A girlfriend who thinks I’m stronger than I am.”
Y/n laughed—it was time to disclose the prank.
She shifted on the sofa, putting Leah’s sudoku aside while she sat on her lap. Leah was staring at her mouth shamelessly.
“It’s a prank,” Y/n said straightforwardly, planting a kiss on Leah’s face. “Sorry.”
Leah gently placed a hand on Y/n’s neck, making the girl look at her. “A prank? What prank?”
“Laia never called. It’s a TikTok trend—to pretend to offer your girlfriend to do something and see how she reacts,” Y/n explained, smiling as Leah just looked at her.
“Are you serious, bro?” Leah asked, throwing her head back. “I’m gonna delete TikTok from your phone.”
“No, you’re not! This prank helped me see that if one of our friends needed this kind of help, you’d be useless,” Y/n joked. “But at the same time, you’re right–”
Y/n took one of Leah’s arms in her hands. “Your arms aren’t that strong.”
“Excuse me?!” Leah said, offended. “If I wanted to, I very well could lift a fridge upstairs! I’m not weak.”
“I didn’t say you’re weak! I just said that–”
Leah took Y/n from her lap and quickly reached for her phone. Y/n looked at her, confused.
“What are you doing?” she asked, trying to peek over Leah’s shoulder. “Let me see it.” Y/n stomped her feet.
“I’m buying us a fridge,” Leah stated. “The biggest one.”
Y/n looked at Leah as if she was out of her mind. “I’m sorry. Our freezer is good, why are you buying a new one?!”
“To show you I can lift it up the stairs,” Leah murmured grumpily.
“Leah. No,” Y/n said as if talking to a toddler. “Don't be ridiculous.”
“Done!” Leah said, showing Y/n the phone screen of the online purchase she had just made.
Y/n threw herself dramatically onto the sofa. “Bloody hell! Why are you like that?”
Leah lay down on top of Y/n and whispered in her ear. “Because you doubted me, and now I have to prove you wrong.”
“You realise how immature that is, right?” Y/n said, feeling Leah's soft lips brushing against her collarbone. “And don’t try to use sex to make me forget it.”
Leah chuckled. “I’m just kissing you.”
“Yeah, whatever,” Y/n said. “Now we have to find another place to put our freezer!”
Leah sucked on Y/n’s neck. “We can think about it later. Just enjoy yourself.”
Y/n learned two things:
Leah indeed had strong feelings because, in the end—after struggling a lot—she did carry the fridge upstairs to their apartment. Leah indeed used sex to make her forget about having two freezers lying around in the kitchen.
..
Please let me know what you guys think! Feedback is very important!

Hey bestie whats a narrow boat? I saw you tag that on something you reblogged and I'm pretty curious now!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
- Terry Darlington, Narrow Dog to Carcassone
A narrowboat (all one word) is a craft restricted to the British Isles, which are connected all over by a nerve-map of human-made canals. To go up and down hills, the canals are spangled with locks (chambers in which boats can be raised or lowered by filling or emptying them with water.) As Terry says above, the width of the locks was somewhat randomly determined, and as a result, the British Isles have a narrow design of lock - and a narrowboat to fit through them. A classic design was seventy feet long and six feet wide. Starting in the 18th century, and competing directly with trains, canal “barges” were an active means of transport and shipping. They were initially pulled along the towpaths by horses, and you can still see some today!
Tumblr media
Later, engines were developed.
Even after the trains won the arms race, it was a fairly viable freight service right up until WW2. It’s slow travel, but uses few resources and requires little human power, with a fairly small crew (of women, in WW2) being capable of shifting two fully laden boats without consuming much fossil fuel.
In those times the barges were designed with small, cramped cabins in which the boaters and their families could live.
During its heyday the narrowboat community developed a style of folk art called “roses and castles” with clear links to fairground art as well as Romani caravan decor. They are historically decorated with different kinds of brass ornaments, and inside the cabins could also be distinctively painted and decorated.
Today, many narrowboats are distinctively decorated and colorful - even if not directly traditional with “roses and castles” they’ll still be bright and offbeat. A quirky name is necessary. All narrowboats, being boats, are female.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a postwar decline, interest in the waterways was sparked by a leisure movement and collapsing canals were repaired. Today, the towpaths are a convenient walking/biking trail for people, as they connect up a lot of the mainland of the UK, hitting towns and cities. Although the restored canals are concrete-bottomed, they’re attractive to wildlife. Narrowboats from the 1970s onward started being designed for pleasure and long-term living. People enjoy vacationing by hiring a boat and visiting towns for a cuter, comfier, slower version of a campervan life. And a liveaboard community sprang up - people who live full-time on boats. Up until the very restrictive and nasty laws recently passed in the UK to make it harder for travelling peoples (these were aimed nastily at vanlivers and the Romani, and successfully hit everyone) this was one of the few legal ways remaining to be a total nomad in the UK.
Liveaboards can moor up anywhere along the canal for 28 days, but have to keep moving every 28 days. (Although sorting out the toilet and loading up with fresh water means that a lot of people move more frequently than that.) you can also live full-time in a marina if they allow it, or purchase your own mooring. In London, where canal boats are one of the few remaining cheapish ways to live, boats with moorings fetch the same prices as houses. It can be very very hard for families to balance school, parking, work, and all the difficulties of living off-grid- but many make it work. It remains a diverse community and is even growing, due to housing pressures in the UK. Boats can be very comfortable, even when only six feet wide. When faced with spending thousands of pounds on rent OR mooring up on a nice canal, you can see why it seems a romantic proposition for young people, and UK television channels always have slice-of-life documentaries about young folks fixing up their very own quirky solar-powered narrowboat. I don’t hate; I did it myself.
If you’re lucky, you might even meet some of the cool folks who run businesses from their narrowboats: canal-side walkers enjoy bookshops, vegan bakeries, ice-cream boats, restaurants, artists and crafters. There are Floating Markets and narrowboat festivals. It’s generally recognised that boaters contribute quite a lot to the canal - yet there are many tensions between different kinds of boaters (liveaboards vs leisure boaters vs tourists) as well as tensions with local settled people, towpath users like cyclists, and fishermen. I could go on and on explaining this rich culture and dramas, but I won’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Phillip Pullman’s Gyptians are a commonly cited example of liveaboards - although they were based on the narrowboat liveaboards that Pullman knew in Oxford, their boats are actually Dutch barges. Dutch barges make good homes but are too wide to access most of the midlands and northern canals, and are usually restricted to the south of the UK. So they’re accurate for Bristol/London/Oxford, and barges are definitely comfier to film on. (Being six feet wide is definitely super awkward for a boat.) but in general Dutch barges are less common, more expensive and can’t navigate the whole system.
Tumblr media
However, apart from them, there are few examples of narrowboat depictions that escaped containment. So it’s quite interesting that there is an entire indigenous special class of boat, distinctive and highly specialised and very cute, with an associated culture and heritage and folk art type, known to all and widely celebrated, and ABSOLUTELY UNKNOWN outside of the UK - a nation largely known around the world for inflicting its culture on others. They’re a strange, sweet little secret - and nobody who has ever loved one can resist pointing them out for the rest of their lives, or talking about them when asked to. Thank you for asking me to.

the forgotten girl (1)
posted this originally on my old account. will be posting twice weekly :)
Tumblr media
Emily Scott, sister of legendary lionesses Jill Scott, has died at the age of 21. Wife Amelia Scott-Higgins in intensive care.
Police have confirmed that Emily Scott was murdered in her family home over the weekend, her wife, Matilda’s star Amelia Scott-Higgins is in intensive care after sustaining life threatening injuries.
Waking up in a hospital bed, wrapped in bandages and in heaps of pain was not exactly how I expected my day to go but here we are. I don’t remember much. I remember going home after training, I stopped to get dinner, chicken carbonara and garlic bread from our favourite Italian restaurant and then flowers from the corner stand that Emily was obsessed with. I was already late so who cares if I was a little extra late.
I remember the front gate being open, which is never normally the case, I remember the front door being unlocked but closed, again not normal but sometimes Em is in a rush when she gets home. As I took my shoes and coat off and wandered down the hallway, I didn’t notice the guy standing behind the door, or the guy on the couch, or Emily in the back room tied to a chair. I didn’t notice any of it. The only thing I noticed before it went black was the two wine glasses, one tipped over and smashed, the other full.
Chelsea FC superstar, Amelia Scott-Higgins has QUIT mid season.
Where is football superstar Amelia Scott-Higgins?
Moving to Barcelona was the best thing I could’ve done. No one knows me,no one knows what happened or who Emily was. I am invisible. As soon as I could, I quit, left England, deleted all my social media and changed my number.
The rehab was incredibly hard. That’s to be expected considering I have multiple stab wounds to my stomach, my leg cut up, bruises covering every part of my body. I was still me though. Maybe not on the surface but deep down I was. I missed Emily everyday, I missed our life together, I miss the little things.
My apartment was empty. Nothing on the walls, plain furniture, it looked more like a show house than something someone would actually lived in. It didn’t bother me, it made my brain have to work less. All I did was rehab, surf and doom scroll. I came across the Manuelas instagram page, a gay bar in Barcelona. From what I’ve heard it’s incredibly popular but I’ve never been. They had a shirt available, “lesbian services”, after inquiring they allowed for me to pick it up.
I was meeting someone called Olga, slightly worried as I had no idea who she was, I let it play out.
“Hola! Are you Amelia?”
“Hola, yes I am.”
“Perfect! I’m Olga! Let me take you inside and you can get whatever you want. They said you’ve paid so you can get anything.”
Stickers, hats, shirts, they had it all. I grabbed one of everything and then had a chat with Olga.
“You’re not around here are you? Your Catalan and Spanish is good but the accent is a bit weird.”
“Oh nah. I’m Australian. Lived in London for a few years but I’m here now.”
“Oh wow! How long have you lived here?”
“3 years now. It’s beautiful. I don’t get out much but I’m trying to get out more.”
“What do you do for work? If you don’t mind me asking?”
“Uh um, I used to play -“
“Amelia? Is that you?” Keira Walsh and Lucy Bronze. Right in front of me. I haven’t seen them for 3 years, purposely ignoring all of them and essentially falling off the face of the earth.
“Amelia! What are you doing here? Give me a hug!”
“Hey guys. Long time so see.” This is not what I wanted. More and more people started surrounding us.
“Holy shit. That’s Amelia Scott-Higgins! She’s been MIA for so long. I miss watching her” the short one with dimples tried to whisper, it didn’t work.
“Dude she used to be so good. What happened?” Her taller companion asked next.
“That’s enough you two. She has ears and can hear you idiots.” Alexia Putellas. 2 time Ballon d’or and 2 time pain in my ass. “Hola Amelia. How are you?”
“Fine thanks Alexia. And you?”
“How do you all know each other? I am very confused here.” Olga spoke up.
“Mil used to play for-“ Alexia started to say
“We are old friends!” This is why I don’t leave my house.
“I need to go. I have things to do. Olga thank you so much for all this. If I owe any money let me know. Alexia, girls, it was nice to see you. Good luck this season.” Turning as quickly as I could to escape.
“Milly, wait.”
“Kei, don’t. I’m fine. Everything is fine.”
“Please can I have your number or something? It’s been 3 years and you disappeared.”
“Give me your phone and I’ll put it in. I’m not good at replying. Bye Kei.”
3 years since I stepped foot in England, 3 years since I buried my wife. 3 years since I’d spoken to my friends. 4 years since Emily died. 4 years since I played football, 4 years since I felt normal.

“Finally!” You danced with excitement as you admired your new apartment. It was beautiful and everything you have ever dreamed of. The kitchen was just as your liking and it was decorated just the way you pleased. The bedroom was spacious and the living room was gifted with these beautiful large windows that gave you an overview of the entire city. Los Angels. The city of dreams. But most of all the city of opportunity. This place was nothing compared to your crapy London apartment. Who knew when your company announced they’d be opening a branch in America they’d choose you as one of the leads. Finally it felt like all your hard work was paying off. “A new start.” Is what you proudly called it, after years of misery and barely making rent in your old city.
A few weeks passed and as LA became warmer and prepared itself for spring, your hopes of a “new start” seemed to be crumbling as your mental and physical health already started declining. You worked every hour of the day, everyday of the week. You worked hard for this position and didn’t want to let anyone down. But the pressure of perfection and achieving was getting too much.
“I’m aware of the numbers, just get the report done so I can look it over.” You sighed in annoyance. It felt like the hundred work call of the day and it was way after work hours. You poked your spatula in the frying pan as you held with your other hand the phone closer to your ear. It was late and you were tired and hungry.
Your mind felt hazy as you finally ended the call and glanced over the time that read past midnight. “Jesus Christ.” You muttered to yourself, realising you still had a lot to do to prepare for your meeting that morning.
Your eyes became heavy and your body almost limb with tiredness. “C’mon got to eat.” You reminded yourself before rubbing your eyes exhausted. You sighed deeply, throwing your head back as a frustrated groan escaped your lips. Work papers were scattered around the counter mixed with broken eggshells. You could almost laugh at the absurdity if you had the strength.
As the eggs cooked further you looked over some more documents. You read the files over, not taking your eyes off the paper as you accidentally knocked the pan of the stove onto the counter due to an attempt of grabbing your spatula again. “Shit.” You cursed, dropping the file to save your food. But just when you turned to the side you noticed the paper landing onto the gas stove and catching fire almost immediately, creating a chain of everything flammable on the counters.
“No, no, no!” You panicked, suddenly wide awake as you tried progressing what was happening. You cried out. Your hands flew drastically in the air as you looked around for something, anything, to stop the fire. Once you realized it was way out of your control you quickly backed away, your head slightly hitting the counter behind you as you trembled to grab your phone from your pocket.
“911 what’s you emergency?”

The emergency services arrived quickly and the fire was out in no time. Yet for you it all seemed to have happened in slow motion. You sat frozen on your couch, the angle from where you were sitting gave you an overlook of your burned down kitchen. The firefighters were cleaning up and examining the damage, words seemed to fail you as you tried progressing what had happened.
“Do you need anything?” A firefighter asked kindly, kicking you out of your trance. His voice was soft as he lowered down to kneel in front of you. “A blanket? Some water?” He offered before remarking on the cold night breeze that escaped through the open windows as ventilation.
“I’m okay, thank you.” You muttered, unable to pierce your eyes away from the sight in front of you. There was a short silence as you looked at the damages and you could feel the tears almost starting to fall. Your head was pounding but you didn’t know if it was from emotion, hunger or the hit you took from the countertops.
The firefighter didn’t seem to believe your words as he grabbed a nearby blanket from your couch and threw it over your shoulders. You looked at him slightly taken off guard but grateful. “Thank you.” You whispered. And finally you looked at him. He had a warm smile as he introduced himself as Buck. He was kind and gentle and had these ocean blue eyes you could almost drown in. It was a horrible moment to be caught of guard by a handsome stranger but you just couldn’t help it with him.
You told him your name and he complimented it before repeating it to himself with a smile. “So,” He started, tilting his head slightly to take a better look at you. “Are you sure you’re not in any pain.”
It was if he knew exactly what you were thinking. Your head was started to be a real pain but you were too hazed to acknowledge it yourself. “My head hurts a little.” You said quilty, rubbing the back of your neck to sooth the pain. “I took quite the hint from my cabinet.”
“Mind if I take a look?” He offered to which you nodded in approval. His fingers were soft as they traced over the spot you were caressing earlier. He had a concentrated look on his face, his eyebrows slightly knitting together as he examined you further.
“I’ll give you something for the headache.” Buck offered, grabbing a painkiller from his kit. “It seems like that cabinet had it out for you.” He joked as he gave you a bottle of water. “Yeah I think so too.” You chuckled.
“I don think it’s anything to worry about. But if the pain keeps coming back you come and see me okay.”
“I will. Thank you Buck.”
“Anytime.”

Days went by and your kitchen was still under construction but luckily you got some time off of work. After working countless hours and weekends it was finally your first time to explore your new city and take some time off for yourself. You were thrilled and felt alive for the first time in weeks. You saw the kitchen incident as a firm reminder of the universe to set better boundaries when it came to your career. Even though the step was terrifying, it was very much necessary.
You went on a small shopping spree for new kitchen items before stopping at one of the local cafes people kept raving about online. You walked up to the entrance, ready to open the door but someone beat you too it. Smiling politely he held it open for you as you both entered. “Thank you.” You said kindly before looking up at him.
You pushed your bag closer to your body, completely caught off guard as you suddenly realized the cute firefighter from your apartment fire was standing in front of you. He was taller than you remembered and his eyes sparkled even more with the sunlight. He wasn’t wearing his uniform, just a white shirt with a blue denim jacket. His lips turned into a genuine smile as he said your name so perfectly again. You were surprised he remembered it and from the way his face lit up you could tell you had made a bigger impact on him than you realized.
“Buck.” Your heart was pounding in your chest as he moved closer. His hand breezed inches away from your waist as he gestured for you to move with him further inside. “You remember me?” Buck playfully scoffed as if he was surprised that you even asked that. “such a cute face I can never forget.” He admitted, flashing a warm but teasing smile that made you feel fuzzy.
“How’s the kitchen?” He asked curious.
“Still under construction.” You answered with a tired sigh. The thought of the situation was still delicate to you since you hadn’t fully processed it all, not to mention all the stress renovating and organising a new kitchen brings with itself. “I took some time off work to wrap my head around everything.” You admitted.
“That sounds like a smart idea.” He said genuine. “I sometimes forget that after my job, putting out the fire, for most people then the real mess begins.”
“Tell me about it.”
“Well I- I am terrible at paperwork, I have got a captain to prove that to you but-,” He grinned, slightly fixing his posture. “I am great at fixing things. So I will give you my number and if you need literally anything, I’d be happy to help.”
You felt your heart racing and your cheeks heat up. There was a short silence were you just looked into each other his eyes smiling, completely caught of guard that you almost forgot to hand him your phone. But in that small moment, you just knew. Eyes sometimes say so much more then words and in that beat you felt such a connection to each other that the universe was basically screaming at you to take up on his offer.
“Yeah- yeah, of-of course.” You were snapped back to reality. Messily looking and hitting every pocket to find your phone. You both laughed at the clumsiness’s and he commented how he almost never could find his own phone.
Buck put his number in your phone, payed for coffee and you both stayed talking. He shared stories of his work and his friends and you talked about life in London and moving to LA. Buck vowed to take you out someday and show you the city, not wanting you to miss out and everything Los Angels had to offer. You couldn’t believe how much you had in common and how natural and easy conversation with him felt. You could listen to his stories for hours but sadly you had to get back and he had to start his shift. So with a hug goodbye and a promise of a text you both parted ways for the day.
Luckily you kept your promise, Buck helped you with your kitchen and your place felt back like home. Who new that because of all this you met your soulmate and were able to make Los Angels your true new forever home.
My requests are open :)
